29 MarPen and paper, keyboard and screen

Clocks are turning forward tonight/tomorrow morning. Either way, don’t forget! We’re losing an hour. Which means I get an hour less of holiday, or an hour less of weekend for the rest of you. Sad isn’t it?

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far awa-… Wait wrong movie. The new X Files movie is coming out this summer – around August I think. I remember watching X Files when I was kid. I got as far as the end of the opening credits, and then when ‘The Truth Is Out There’ flashed across the screen, I ran out from under the duvet and out the room to safety. I can’t remember why I found it so scary, but give me a break, I was young. That theme tune still gives me shivers though.
The stills from the movie that have been released so far don’t look too thrilling. But I don’t know if it will be any good. I never saw the first movie. And TV shows that turn into movies, well none of my TV shows have ever turned into movies so I don’t know if they’re ever successful or not. Isn’t a Sex In The City movie supposed to be happening as well? I remember when I first read about that. I thought they were joking. And then they they weren’t. And then I thought they were crazy.

Even before Firefox 3 has officially been released, Mozilla has already announced plans for Firefox 4. And I think they’re getting just a little ahead of themselves. Not in terms of announcing it early, but in terms of, when that article says ‘crazy ideas’ they really do mean crazy ideas. This whole ‘virtual OS’ business is a little far-fetched. Does anybody really want something like that? It’s an internet browser. That’s it. That’s all it should ever be. Firefox has already had previous problems with being a memory hogger, so if they really plan on having little ‘applications’ and ‘workspaces’ as well, then that just is waiting for some trouble.
The other plan of being able to ‘[sync] a user’s online preference whenever they use a browser anywhere’, is being just a tad bit idealistic. Unless Microsoft agree to use Firefox as their default browser on all their machines instead of IE, I don’t think it would be much use to a lot of people. Because I’m guessing this is going to work a bit like Foxmarks. Now, I’m sure plenty of people use Foxmarks, but the thing is, you need to have Firefox on the second machine in the first place. I don’t know what the rules are with at the workplace if you’re allowed to download Firefox or not, because I know at school I can’t simply go around downloading Firefox on to their machines. So I don’t know, maybe it’s just me.

Why is a ’small’ called a ‘tall’ in coffee shops? Do they need to have such fancy ‘grande’ sizes? I just like the good ol’ small, medium, and large. Simple. Straight forward. Plain English. And everyone understands it. Just, why?

28 MarTic-Tac-Toe

A couple of posts back I wrote about how a guy got pissed about a magazine redesigning a gay website. Well, I can happily say that at least he’s the only person who felt like that. The magazine got a bunch of replies back that filled up the double page of replies that they usually get. Even though, I am happy that it’s safe to think not everyone is as close-minded as that one guy, I am kinda missing my old magazine where they just talked about computer-y stuff. Which makes me wonder…what’s happened to my Wired magazine these days?

Whether you celebrate Easter or not, go out and buy an Easter egg! Now. Go. Leave this window open, and I’ll still be here when you get back from the shops, don’t worry – well, that is unless your computer crashes. It’s one of the best times to buy cheap chocolate (Halloween’s gotta be the other one). I mean, I got one of those big Easter eggs with two chocolate bars for £1. You might as well, that’s all I’m saying.

So you might be wondering about the video I mentioned yesterday. Yeh. Not happening. You should get used to that kind of thing happening. I’ll mention making something, and then it will never be mentioned again. Maybe. My ideas stop and start, and rarely carry through, but that’s what happens sometimes. If I followed through with every one of my ideas I’d have a portfolio the size of Texas. I don’t know why Texas, but it was the first thing that came to mind.

So teignmouth successfully convinced me to give Last.fm another go. Anyone else on there? I only joined this month so there’s not much going on on my profile. But be warned, you have to use either iTunes or Windows Media Player to make the scrobbler thingy work. So this means I’ve had to reluctantly open up iTunes once again *shudder*. Maybe I should put in a suggestion saying they should make it compatible with Media Jukebox. I know, picky picky. What can I say I’m a girl with 3 different internet browsers, 4 different photo editors, 2 video editors, and 4 different programs that are capable of playing music on her computer. They all serve their purpose.

I’m going to talk about something boring now. Just thought I’d be nice enough to tell you. It’s the least I can do.
Anyway, if any of you have ever taken D.T (graphics) in your life, then you might have had to do ‘logo research’. Oh the joys of logo research. There were no joys in logo research. Anyway, over the years I have come across some interesting things. Like the FedEx logo, there’s an arrow between the ‘E’ and ‘x’. Don’t ask me what the significance of that is. Or the Amazon logo, the little arrow shows that they have everything from ‘a to z’. Nifty little idea they had there. What brought on this conversation was this little bit in my magazine (you can tell I was just reading it by the double mention).Thought I’d share. There really was no point, but maybe there’s a hidden message in there somewhere…

Catch ya later people.

Anyway, I’m outta here,
-two

p.s There is no hidden message
p.p.s Or is there?
p.p.p.s No, there really isn’t

27 MarTo click or not to click

It surprises me how computer illiterate some people can be. Especially when it comes to some of my friends, and that just scares me. For instance, some of them don’t even know what an internet browser is. No joke. And they also didn’t know that you had to pay for software. The only thing my friends use a computer for is for 2 things: Facebook (or MySpace) and one of those annoying celebrity news websites like the one for heat magazine or something (which is not worthy of a link in this post). I..I..I just don’t get it. Why?!
So, here’s the plan. We’re all going to stake out their house for a bit, and wait till no one’s at home. Then we proceed to invade their houses, take their computers (maybe take some bananas from the fruit bowl while we’re at it – espionage/burglary makes you hungry) and get them back to my place ASAP. Then I can have, not only dual monitors, but a hundred million monitors. Then we can all contribute to the ‘two charity fund’ so that she can get new video cards and more RAM. Heck, I think we need just need to get a whole new, more powerful computer to handle this lot.

So since YouTube has taken the liberty to include more statistics about your videos, I’ve taken the liberty to see more statistics about my videos. There seem to be a lot of people in Alaska who watch my videos…probably due to the fact it’s in North America, so really, maybe no one in Alaska watched my videos. But, there are people from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Turkey, Mexico who have watched them. So, in theory, what these ’statistics’ are saying, is that surely there must be some easier way to take over the world. What, so all we need is some brainwashing type video, and it’s in the bag. Never say never guys.

I feel like making another video. I should do some photoshopping but the ideas aren’t really flowing so well with that. Oh and, Adobe Illustrator has/more-like-is-going-to become my new best friend. I might use Word Play by Jason Mraz for that video. Maybe. I need an upbeat song. Valerie seems pretty good. But I don’t think I can stand Amy Winehouse’s voice for the length of editing a video. I might not photoshop something, but I might go and use Illustrator later on. Need to learn how to use that properly as well. Should add it to the To-Do list. But I’m too lazy to find clips for that video. No, I’m not going to tell what the video’s about yet. Because it might not happen, depending on if I can actually get a proper idea going. I’m jumping sentences like crazy. Did you get all of that? Hmm. Well I think I’ll stick with the video idea for now. Might have to go in search of clips from YouTube. I’m beginning to wonder if this idea is actually plausible. What I need is a professional camera crew, some actors, and a couple of nice settings. Yeh, never going to happen. I’ll see what I can do.

Have a nice day people.

What do you do when your 8 year old cousin emails you? Obviously you reply, but, what do you say? They’re 8. I don’t exactly want to talk about how GCSEs are hell, my recent drinking escapades, or even discuss favourite TV shows or bands with them. They’re half my age. Half…oh my gosh, they’re half my age. I feel old.
Anyway, so that’s going to be a new experience for me. Emailing an 8 year old.
But don’t you think that’s kinda strange? I mean, I got my first email account when I was 11. 8’s kinda young, and is it really that safe for them to have one? Next thing you know I’ll have them adding me on Facebook or MySpace. Or they’ll be selling their old toys on eBay, uploading videos of themselves singing ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ on YouTube, or even…starting a blog. I don’t know, young kids and the internet scare me. Maybe it’s just me being an old fart. I even got weirded out when I saw said cousin playing on a Nintendo DS. They’re just little kids, they’re supposed to be running around in the garden, playing with soft toys and drinking apple juice. Their minds shouldn’t start getting corrupted until they’re at least 10 or something.

LiveJournal has taken the monetizing road. It no longer offers the free accout option when new users sign up. What is up with that? Don’t they know it’s possibly the stupidest thing to do? I get that they want to make money, but seriously, I can see their rate of users signing up come plummeting down.
Don’t worry though, you’re not missing out on much. There are plenty of alternative blogging websites such as WordPress or Blogger that are just as good, if not even better then LJ. What sets LJ aside from the others though, was its ‘communities’ – I guess you could say they’re the equivalent of having groups on social networking sites. But no worries there, unless you’re a comment-type person, you can still look at them without an account as far as I know – or back when I didn’t have an account. Other then that, there’s not much else, layout could do with some improvement, navigation is fairly decent and compared to its competitive partners, well, it doesn’t really compare. Those of you who have already signed up under a free account will remained untouched, and nothing exciting will happen, so they’re not going to force you to pay any time soon (unless they have another evil plan coming soon to cinemas near you).

You remember in my last post about how I was saying my room was excruciatingly, unbelievably, something-other-ly freezing? Well, now I have a cold. I wasn’t kidding around y’all.

Any of you guys like/heard of Digg? There’s a sort of music equivalent to that called thesixtyone. It’s a place to discover new independent musicians, and what happens is, is that you ‘bump’ musicians’ songs that you like and the songs that have the highest ‘bumps’ end up on the homepage. There’s a point system that fits in there somewhere, but…that’s that. I haven’t had the chance to fully check out the music on there, so I don’t know if it’s actually any good. It just sounded like a nice and good idea. But if you like music and listening to bands that people have never heard of, then you might as well check it out if you’re bored.

Anyhoo, I need to go. Need to buy food to make lunch, buy chocolate to…eat. Have a good day, try something new, whether it be food or sky-diving or emailing your 8 year old cousin, and have a go at making a rubber band ball – you know you’ve always wanted to.

23 MarRandom doodles and noodles

And they say we’re having global warming. It’s frickin’ snowing! If that’s what they consider warm then we should just go ahead and make it worse. No more of this ‘burning fossil fuels is bad’ malarky. And because it’s so cold right now it means my room is freezing. The radiator in my room refuses to work. Ever. I walk into the hallway and even that’s warmer than my room. I think I need some gloves. Yes, that is how cold it is. I think I need a thicker jumper as well while I’m at it.

When are you supposed to eat your easter egg? Because I ate mine on Friday. I also had some mini eggs last week. That means supplies are running low, and I need more.
I’m not much of a religious person myself, but my parents are both Christian so we do the whole Christmas and Easter thing, i.e all the more presents and chocolate for me. I know it’s bad to think that way, but that’s all it is to me. I tend not to like religious/philisophical type things that much, but I’m fine with other people believing in it. Meh.

Life is a cookie.

Just a little Uh Huh Her mention again. If you pre-order a CD on 1st April it will be signed. Season finale of The L Word tonight :( Again, no spoilers so no comment.
I made another video titled ‘Alice in Love’. It’s a little bit NSFW in some parts, just as a warning. It was, again, asked by people for me to make so, again, trying to show that I’m not some overly perverted person. I went kinda crazy on the effects. But you have to give me a break for that, because I only just got a new movie maker and I was learning how to do all these new effects, so they obviously had to be included. That’s what excitment does to you sometimes.
The sad things is though, is that I can never show the videos I make to my parents. Let me explain, so I make videos, photoshop stuff to make up for my lack of educational talents. I’ve made videos and stuff for parents’ birthdays etc. but now that I’m mildly better at it and can do more impressive things then just cropping and sticking pictures on a background, I’d like to show them, but since I’m not out to them, I don’t think I’ll be showing them these videos to them any time soon. Ah well.

My punctuation was really bad in that last paragraph wasn’t it? Well, we all know I can only just about pass at English. Apparently my structures are all wrong, and I don’t seem to be able to grasp the concept of writing in full sentences. I guess you can tell. Anyway, I don’t exactly plan on analysing Northanger Abbey or Shakespeare anywhere in my future, so I think I can live with that. And I think the world can live without me being some English scholar. It’s probably better that way.

I leave you with a little doodle I did resulting from boredness, which you can visit here.

21 MarTumblelog – it’s a real word. Just ask wiki.

Uh Huh Her’s album is coming out 20th May. Pre-release on 1st April. You can check out 2 of their new non-EP songs over on the Nettwerk website. They sound amazing – I’m especially liking Wait Another Day – and I can’t wait until the album comes out.

I got a fancy new tablet thingy. See what I mean here. It’s for drawing and stuff on computers. I photoshop things from time to time. Although I don’t really ‘photoshop’ exactly. Because Photoshop is ridiculously expensive. And so instead I use Paint.NET or Gimp – the freeware equivalent. But Gimp’s a little tricky and I haven’t had the time to properly figure it out so Paint.NET is doing fine for now. Anyway, you can see some stuff I’ve made (yep, all 3 of them) over here.
That last website kinda freaked you out didn’t it? Don’t worry, I’m not planning to migrate my blog over there. I just needed a place to put up all the stuff I make, and that was the easiest way to do it. Ok, so enough self-advertising.

At the moment I’m reading about The world’s 50 most powerful blogs done by The Guardian. Mine makes the top 10. Of course, I asked not to be featured on the site because of privacy/security issues. So I suggested that TechCrunch take my place instead. Gotta help out the little guy.
Quite a few of the blogs there are to do with celebrity gossip *yawn*. But, AfterEllen makes the list just about, making it the only gay-themed blog on the list.

I’m officially on holidays now, for 2 and a bit weeks. And while I should be revising there are other things I want to get done. For instance:
1. Learn how to use Adobe Flash properly
2. Make a video
3. Learn how to use Sony Vegas properly, hopefully before I do number 2, but that will probably not happen
4. Make sure that I’m not making up what a monitor splitter is, because when I asked a guy at PC World if they sold it he had no clue what I was on about
and 5. Do some photoshopping because I haven’t done any in ages
Sounds do-able right?

I finally got The Sound of Music Special Edition DVD *happy dance*
I know this has been and gone but remember when Rent Remixed was back in the West End? Well I did go and see it, even though I was less then impressed by it. Although I have to say, the remixed version of ‘One Song Glory’ sung by Luke Evans (who has his MySpace song set to ‘Bleeding Love’ by Leona Lewis…umm…l-o-l) was amazing to hear. And it was also the same time where I realised, wow, Denise Van Outen can actually sing. And about Siobhan Donaghy…well no comment.
But I guess I am biased towards the original cast…and the original songs. Idina Menzel was always my favourite for some reason. I also went to see her in Wicked when she came over to the West End. I never thought anyone could replace her but then Kerry Ellis came along, I heard some recordings, and she’s pretty damn good.
Anyway, my point is though (and for once I have one) is that next time, if they ever think of reviving Rent again, just stick to the orginal. There’s no need to make it ‘hip’. I mean, Mark was wearing Abercrombie & Fitch(?!). Enough said.

17 MarWhen girls will be boys

I am about to tell you the most exciting news ever. Ever. It will blow your mind away. You wouldn’t have even seen it coming. I bet you can’t even guess what it is. Go on, take a guess. No? Still don’t know? Personally, I’ve been waiting my whole life for this moment. That’s what makes it so exciting. Words can’t even describe. It’s just the most amazing thing ever. Nothing is as cool as what I’m about to tell you. Have I built up the excitement enough for you? No? Then go back to the beginning of this paragraph and read again and again until you do. Once you are then read on…
Wouldn’t it be funny if I was just joking? And that, really, I didn’t have anything to tell you whatsoever. Or maybe I do have some exciting news, but it would be only for me and not really for you. And that I was just making a big deal out of nothing. Well…that’s exactly what I’m doing *excitement comes plummeting down*

When Girls Will Be Boys. Déjà vu from the article that Joey showed to us in the Metro at the last meet. No wonder it’s déjà vu, it has the same title. But they are different articles. First one’s quite long though, as it goes in depth about just one guy.
One thing I learnt from the article: they have single sex colleges? Just kidding. Kind of. I really didn’t know they had such a thing. Anyway, this kinda baffled me ‘“gender identity” was recently dropped from the 2007 Employment Non-Discrimination Act, or ENDA. Americans confuse me. Why include it, and then take it out?

I’ve never read Harry Potter.
I’ve never watched any of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
I did, however, watch Hackers last night. Tis a guilty pleasure of mine. Although, it’s not really a guilty pleasure. I have no guilt when watching it. I’m not ashamed to admit that I do.
It has the most unrealistic ‘hacking’ ever (then again, what movie doesn’t?), but I love it nonetheless. And Angelina Jolie’s in it. Can’t complain there.
I also watched D.E.B.S. and Jordana Brewster always reminds me of Demi Moore whenever I watch it.

I made a Leisha Hailey make-out marathon video if anyone’s interested. Now, before you start thinking I’m some weird perv, some people asked me to make it. Just to make that clear.

I’m still trying to figure out Last.fm. I miss Pandora :(
Do you know what has changed massively since I was a kid? Neopets. If you haven’t been on there for ages take a look at it. I was really upset by how comercialised it had gotten. But I guess, what can you expect? I do miss how it used to be though. My pets on there will forever be ‘dying’ though – they never actually do die though. The boards are filled with annoying 10 year olds as usual. Not allowed to talk about loads of stuff including politics, sexual orientation etc. I’m not too bothered about that since it is just a games website, but it’s unfair if people can talk about being straight and trying to find boyfriend/girlfriends whereas the moment someone mentions the word gay or bi they get reported. Mind you, those words are blocked anyway. A couple of weeks back I played it a bit to see how much it had changed, but now I’m completely off of it once again. Might find it again in a few years time when I’m bored.

Still wondering about the exciting bit of news? Or have you forgotten? Didn’t think I was actually being serious, did you? Well I am.
I got glow in the dark stars!!! *waits awkwardly*
Not impressed? Well I like them. It’s something I’ve always wanted to get ever since I was a kid. And I get excited and amused about little things like that so there you go. They’re on my ceiling, and it’s the coolest thing at night when all the lights are off. And no, I’m not too old to have them in my room ok? You should get some. In fact, why not just ask for them for your next birthday. That way you won’t have to spend any money, and still get an awesome present. Genius. If you still think I’m crazy, then go and get some and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

14 MarCouscous: So nice they named it twice

Notice the break in posting? No? Me neither. But, what can you do?
So my life’s been pretty hectic these past 2 days. Hence the lack of blogging. Ah well. I’m back now.

There are about a fifty million and one different water bottle brands. Evian (naïve), Vittel (which could rhyme with little), volvic (the obssessive volcano advertising), and Fiji (the posh one). Millions.
It’s only water. Is there really a need for such variety? It’s like asking: Pepsi or Coke? Sprite or 7up? Cream cheese or cream cakes? Ok so maybe the last one doesn’t really count, but you get the idea. It all tastes the same to me.

Vista SP1 is coming out for manual install on 18th March.

I like raspberries and strawberries, but I’m not to fond of blackberries, and blueberries. I like cherries to.
I need to find a song for a video I’m making. This is a perfect oppurtunity to self-advertise my other videos but a) My YouTube account is already on my profile, and b) I’ll save it for when I actually finish the video. Anyone else here just make random videos? I don’t tend to do it all the time. Just when I’m bored. Or more specifically, when I can find a good song. But some people have asked me to make a video so I’ve got the clips but just not the song. And that’s the hardest part.

Madonna’s Hard Candy album cover has been revealed. Umm, hair’s cool. But I prefer Pink’s equivalent.
I’m not really into all her new stuff at the moment. Then again, I’ve only ever like a handful of songs (the usual popular ones), ‘Music’, ‘Holiday’, ‘Beautiful Stranger’ and whatever else. But everything from singing with Britney onwards was a big no-no for me. However, she never fails to impress. That woman can sing her ass off live.

We keep on having talks about global warming at school. Had to watch An Inconvenient Truth and then have a talk about the counter-argument. Any Science or Geography teacher at my school doesn’t believe that we are causing global warming (unintentional rhyme). I’m not too sure myself. All I know is, something is happening, and it isn’t good, and whether or not we are the cause, we’ve got to do something to stop it from getting worse. And I don’t really know who is right and who is wrong. I don’t think I ever will.

Why do some people call Babel, babble? I always though it was pronounced Baybul. Then again, I always seem terrible at pronouncing things. For instance the word ‘charades’ – I say the ‘rades’ bit so that it rhymes with ‘fades’. And then all my friends told me it was prounounced so that it rhymed with…lard? I don’t really know what it could rhyme with.

Adios amigos.

p.s I don’t actually like couscous
p.p.s Although, I’ve never tried it before
p.p.p.s So is couscous really that nice that they named it twice?

11 MarIt’s the opposite of cheese

I missed out a very important thing yesterday. The L Word is officially renewed for Season 6. I read about it, but never wrote about it. So that was just to clarify.

My Geography teacher said the worst method of teaching was dictation.
Then he dictated some work to us.

I always struggle with birthday and christmas presents. Not with getting them for other people, but when people ask me what I want. Because there never usually is anything I want. So I go through phases. I come up with random presents that I get people to buy me. For instance, a couple of christmas’s ago I got my brother and one of my cousins to buy me crayons. Yes, crayons. I wanted crayons, so I got crayons. No joke.
2 birthday’s ago I was obsessed with Tigger. So my friend got me a Tigger toy. I loved it, and still do. It’s the best. I’ve also got a baby Tigger toy which is a-dorable. For my last birthday, my friends wanted to get me something big and expensive (since it was my 16th). Jewellery, make-up, anything girly.
I politley refused.
I am a tomboy all the way.
So, instead, I insisted that they could get me subscriptions to .net and Wired magazines. I loved my presents last year. /geekiness.
What else am I supposed to ask for anyway?

Firefox 3 beta 4 is out.

Software for Starving Students. It’s like a freeware newbie package. I’d recommend loads of software in there to anyone.

A website with a list of where you can watch videos, more specifically tv shows/movies Shh, you didn’t here it from me.

Hurray for Saving Face being a 15. Making me legal to buy it. And, meaning that I didn’t have to get someone else to buy it for me. Like the time when I got my brother to buy me Sugar Rush.
I’m not out to him yet.
Made for some awkward conversation when we were queuing up.

Is it annoying how I change subject so quickly? Because I can’t really help it. It’s how my mind works you see. And what goes through my mind comes out as this blog. Well, not everything in my mind. That would be weird.

Only-if-you’re-bored game

If you ever get permanent marker on something (not including fabrics) just use whiteboard marker to get it off.

This will probably only apply to people around my age, but did you ever collect stickers as a kid? I’ve still got my sticker album. In fact, I have a little folder for extras that can’t fit in the album. There’s the shiny ones, the 3D ones, the furry ones, the squishy ones, the ordinary ones, and many, many more. Gotta love stickers. Ah, childhood memories. Top Trumps, Scoubidous, Pokémon…good times.

10 MarWhat would happen if I spun around in circles for an hour? I’d get dizzy.

Do you listen to any podcasts?
I regularly listen to The Planet: The Podcast for L Word Fans and the Showtime one for The L Word (have you figured out that I’m an L Word fan by now?). I’ve downloaded some of The Interface one as well (it’s easier to search it on iTunes then click on the link) because it featured Uh Huh Her, Tegan and Sara, and KT Tunstall. They’ve got quite a few podcasts (some video, some just audio) so go and check it out in case there’s a band that you like on there. There was a RENT podcast somwhere abouts, but that hardly ever gets updated – there’s 1 or 2 clips of the 10th anniversary on there.

My mum once said to me that she downloaded the BBC podcasts so she could listen to them if she were to get stuck in a traffic jam on the way to work. After I had my little moment of laughter I asked my mum, ‘Well isn’t that pointless?’
This is what confused me: if my mum were to do that then she’d just be listening to days, maybe even weeks old news. And that doesn’t really work out now does it? But, in general, if you were to listen to a new podcast every day you’d have to be pretty on the ball. Making sure you download the latest one and actually listen to it on the same day. You might as well just watch on TV in the morning/evening as people tend to do. Hey, now there’s a thought.

I find video podcasts quite inconvenient. Being on the bus, staring intently at my iPod for long periods of time attracts a few worrying looks in my direction. I’d rather not waste my battery watching a video anyway. Besides, it’s hard to watch a video podcast at the same time as playing Zelda on the DS. My multi-tasking abilities don’t stretch as far as that.

A new Indiana Jones poster is out. I don’t know whether or not I’m excited about this movie coming out. Haven’t really bothered to read up on it yet. But I just looked it up on IMDb and Cate Blanchett’s in it?! Pretty cool if you ask me.
Temple Of Doom’s gotta be my favourite (I’ve only watched the other 2 once though), mainly because I love the little kid and basically everything he says in that movie. The heart thing always – and still does – creep me out though. Oh, and the voodoo doll.

Anyone watch the BBC musical-type X-Factor show? At first I was completely against it, because I didn’t want some untrained amateur in the West End. People have really worked hard to get where they are (but I guess you could say the same for shows like the X Factor). But then I can’t miss anything to do with musicals so I watched. (As a side note: another thing I love are musicals. Ruthie Henshall (Women In White, Chicago) and Julie Atherton (Avenue Q) are by far my favourite people)
Back to the shows…
First year was Maria. Everyone and anyone knew that Connie was going to win. She was trained. And she was up against Helena in the finals. Helena – in case you haven’t guessed I didn’t particularly like her. Siobhan was by far the hottest ‘Maria’, and she improved a a lot as well. Didn’t really like many of the others though.
On to Joseph. Again Lee Mead -> trained -> blatently going to win. Keith had the best voice. I loved Daniel, his exit was by far the best, who can not like that little riff at the end? He’s now starring in Avenue Q. Ben and Rob – most improved. And Ben’s currently in Hairspray playing Link Larkin (the Zac Efron part for those of you who don’t know).
Now it’s time for this year’s show: Oliver. Cameron Mackintosh will be helping out as well, along with John Barrowman and Denise Van Outen (I saw Denise in RENT, and I have to say – she can sing) again on the panel. They’re going to find a ‘Nancy’ and 3 ‘Olivers’ (works the same way as Billy Eilliot having 3 Billy’s).
It starts this Saturday (15th March), 19.30 on BBC1 for those of you who will watch.
